Owl with Full Moon

In our first drawing lesson of the year we will design an owl perching on a tree with a full moon. The students will follow the principles of design that we discussed in the previous lessons. Using only pens they will follow step by step instructions during the drawing of the owl. I will emphasize the importance of observing the subject during the actual drawing process, looking at each element or step at least 3 times before moving the pen on the paper and learning to view the subject piece by piece like a puzzle and not the whole. Once the drawing is done they will use prismacolor markers to color it in a realistic manner.
Above drawings were done by students ages 5 to 12.
